Business Volunteer Organization
Business Volunteers complete his 500th match! I am currently a volunteer consultant for the Web Society for Research on Cancer, money that I had with the volunteer organization of business. Also interesting that surprising I was the 500th match, which earned the appearance in the newsletter of the Chamber of Commerce Montreal 500!
I do not know why this figure is more significant than another. Certainly, it represents a milestone in the short existence of Business Volunteers. The need for an organization dedicated to matching business with organizations to nonprofit germinated in my mind during my time as president of Junior Chamber of Commerce in Montreal in 2001. Then, in 2005, the road to my thoughts crossed Marie-Pierre Deform. At our first meeting I told him about my project. By leaving it to me simply said “ok, I’m ready.”
This beautiful naiveté that we had enabled us to persuade the United Way of Greater Montreal, the Arts Council and the Montreal Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal to support us. And with the help of Ms. Francine Clorox and Sun Life Financial, Josée Dufresne joined us to bring our vision. And through it since the fall of 2006, the business of Greater Montreal who say “I want it to do something, somewhere, to help the world” have a listen. And today, 4 ears are very careful because since the arrival of Caroline Bolduc, the team of Business Volunteers has two full-time employees and complete an average of 4.3 matches per week steadily since the last twenty months.
It is proof of a dedicated and dynamic team! But the evidence also that there are hundreds of business people, who in addition to coping with demands of their careers and family life, find time and energy for “volunteers” to share their expertise and experience with organizations in community (47%), cultural (30%), health (18%), environment (3%) and sports / recreation (2%) .. Business people who incorporate volunteerism into their lives, who become volunteers within business organizations they are passionate and they make a difference.

We are proud to announce that we have made 500 matches! 500 matches on more than 1 200 people registered at BA and raised their hands to respond to this implied duty of every citizen to contribute to the development of his community to the extent of its capabilities. Half of these volunteers have accepted positions within the board and some have even become president of a CA! 500 twinning is an important milestone that gives us the energy to look further than before toward our short past. In the 500 volunteers we say thank you! Like all those who helped us voluntarily without counting since our inception.
