Most Expensive Expo in Shanghai

The world’s most expensive expo has opened in Shanghai that takes place between the months of April 30 and October 31. This is an Expo that will exhibit the recent green technology improvements from all the countries which would be participating in this event. China has articulated that this 2010 World Expo will be proof of China’s rising as a global superpower.

China is the first developing country to have an Expo as a result there are efforts to make this event and promote it as an environment friendly event. This being the case, zero emission vehicles are being used as transportation and also the country’s largest solar plant has been created. The slogan of the Expo has been termed, “Better city, better life in music and dance”.

45 billion dollars has been allocated by Shanghai to upgrade the infrastructure of the city – thus, the world’s largest Metro system has been created, as well as two new airport terminals. 700 million dollars has been spent on the promenade on the historic Bund, not to mention new roads, bridges and parks. At least 70 million visitors are expected to attend the Expo, but probably just a spattering of this (5 percent) will be foreigners.

The 2010 Shanghai Expo is being held after 8 years of preparation, there are 8 direct entrances, 4 ferry entry locations, and 1 metro line entrance. Most of the country/city pavilions are in the Pudong area, as well as the Expo Axis (which is the main entrance). Visitors are recommended to know beforehand what they can and cannot bring to the Expo. The map can be taken from the information centers near the entrances.
